Birmingham News All-State volleyball team: Bayside Academy dominates Super 12

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Player of the Year Jessica Lewis of Huntsville High School leads The Birmingham News All-State volleyball team Super 12.

Also selected the Class 6A Player of the Year, Lewis led the state in kills and has signed to play with South Alabama.

Only two teams placed multiple players on the Super 12.

Class 3A Player of the Year Virginia Pittman, Gabby Deshotel and Sydney Chandler of Bayside Academy, the top-ranked team in the state among the Super 25, each earned a spot on the Super 12 players’ list.

Oak Mountain’s Hannah Beach and Emily Cosgrove were also selected to the Super 12 by the News preps sports staff.

Others selected class Player of the Year were Taylor Dellinger of Class 5A Hartselle, Syretha Pride of Class 4A Madison County, Elizabeth Dowd of Class 2A Providence Christian and Peyton van Ekris of Class 1A Donoho.
