Each day that passes, George Payne is starting to get more and more schools calling to get copies of his highlight films.  After an impressive record setting season that ended with him rushing for 2,425 yards and 36 total touchdowns, Payne's name is circulating heavily in the college ranks.  Schools in state as well as out of state like University of Kansas, Eastern Kentucky,  and Southern Illinois University, have been calling Coach Beverly inquiring about the 6'2" senior running back.

Today, Samford University offered Payne a full scholarship.  Tomorrow UAB is visiting the school.  And this is just the beginning of the recruiting season that ends with signing day February 6th.  Payne's stats rank him in the the top of AHSAA record books all time.  Currently he is tied for 6th All Time for touchdowns in a season and 23rd All Time in rushing yards in a season.  His season stats are below:

2425 yards rushing

36 Total TDS -- 34 rushing TDs, 1 receiving TD, 1 INT TD

172 rushing attempts -- 14.10 rushing yds per attempt

202 yds rushing average per game

Other Wildcats are also gaining attention to continue playing at the next level.  Quarterback Drew Favors is being recruited by out of state schools, and wide receiver Aaron Bryant is talking with Jackson State University and Alabama State University, along with other schools.
