Girls Basketball: St. Luke's 47, Cottage Hill Christian 37

, November 13, 2012 10:37 p.m.

MOBILE, Alabama - Jewel Hill had a game-high 23 points as Class 1A St.  Luke's overcame some shoddy free throw shooting  to knock off visiting Class 3A Cottage Hill Christian Academy  47-37.

St. Luke's coach Christine Zoghby said her team didn't play a complete game.

"We got a little sloppy at the end," said Zoghby. "I was pleased  with how we played in the third quarter but we started off slow. We  need to work a lot on being patient on the offensive end when we have a  lead, we need to work on slowing it down."

The Wildcats (4-1) misfired on their first 14 free throws and ended up hitting only 2-of-16 in the game.  "Free throws are killing us," said Zoghby. Ashley Chapman added eight  points for St. Luke's.

Victoria Woodruff led the way for CHCA (1-1) with 20 points.

The game was tight after the opening quarter as St. Luke's led  only 14-12 but the Wildcats used a 14-0 run midway through the second  period to eventually take a 28-19 halftime lead, never looking back  en route to the triumph.
