UMS-Wright won a shootout victory over St. James last week, earning a 49-42 victory. While the Bulldogs had many offenisve stars, running back Troy Dixon shined the brightest.

Foley defensive lineman Nate Cole enjoyed a strong night in helping the Lions earn a Class 6A first-round victory over Baker, while several others turned in outstanding performances.

Jarren Johnson, Jackson: Caught seven passes for 133 yards and a TD in his final high school game, a loss to Briarwood Christian.

George Payne, St. Luke’s: Rushed for 224 yards and three TDs on six carries and returned an interception 60 yards for a score in St. Luke’s 42-6 win over Pleasant Home.

Troy Dixon, UMS-Wright: Rushed for 233 yards and four TDs on 27 carries as UMS held off St. James 49-42.

Joel Poe, Spanish Fort: Completed 16-of-27 passes for 286 yards and four TDs in the Toros’ 51-7 win over Carroll-Ozark.

Nate Cole, Foley: Had two sacks and two forced fumbles in Foley’s 30-28 win over Baker.
