John Loris Sets School Record

November 2, 2012
St. Lukes Episcopal School

The boys cross country ran into some of the state's top 1A/2A cross country teams Thursday when they competed in the AHSAA Sectionals Meet at Gateway Park in Montgomery.  The Wildcats were able to post their best team time of the season, but came up short of qualifying for the State Meet.

John Loris led the way for the Wildcats and topped his own school record he had set in the October 13th meet in Spanish Fort.  Loris, a sophomore, beat the school record by 30 seconds finishing in a time of 19:25.  This time wouldve have been more than enough to qualify for the State Meet the previous two seasons.  However this season the competition was a little faster and Loris' time was about 21 seconds short.  Loris was followed on the team by Thomas Hendrix, 8th grader, at 20:40 and his brother Chet Hendrix, sophomore, at 21:07.  Sophomores JP Williamson and Robert Alston rounded out the team time for St. Luke's finishing with times of 21:23 and 21:24 respectively.  The team time, which consists of the top five runners from a school, was then followed by freshman Paul Williamson at 21:45, 8th grader Tiernan McGuire at 22:22, and sophomore Christian Stirling at 23:38.

With a team made of such young athletes, the future for St. Luke's cross country looks very promising going into 2013-14 and beyond.

Great Job Wildcats!!
