St. Clair notched its second win of the soccer season last Friday, claiming a 4-0 decision at Winfield. The Bulldogs (2-14-1) led 3-0 at halftime on first-half goals by Tanner Wideman, Chad Ham and Mike Wright. Spencer Crumbaugh sealed St. Clair’s win with a goal in the second half. Jacob Meisel had three assists in the contest. Crumbaugh added one assist. Tristan VanSickel registered the shutout in goal. “We really played well. I was pleased with the boys’ effort,” said St. Clair Head Coach Ted Koenigsfeld. “It was a good game. It was nice to get our second win.” St. Clair dropped a 2-1 decision Monday at Belle. The Bulldogs defeated Belle 6-2 earlier in the season. All three goals in the game were scored in the first half. Wright scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal on an assist from Wideman. VanSickel was in goal. “It was cold and we didn’t warm up very well. We didn’t play with the same intensity we had against Union and Winfield,” said Koenigsfeld. “We played harder in the second half. We did a great job possessing the ball. They had the lead and put four defenders back. They packed the house. We had 10 to 12 shots on goal, but couldn’t finish.” St. Clair plays Tuesday against Pacific and visits Sullivan Thursday at 5 p.m.
