Area Cross Country Teams Compete at Owensville Meet

Owensville Golf Course was the sight of the Owensville Cross Country Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Linn’s boys and Blair Oak’s girls captured varsity team titles.

Linn claimed the boys team crown with 55 points. Fatima finished second with 94 points followed by Vienna (112), St. Clair (131), New Haven (136), Steelville (151), Blair Oaks (157), Russellville (160), Owensville (179), Pacific (228), Chamois (233) and St. James (270).

Blair Oaks secured the girls team title with 55 points. Owensville finished second with 75 points followed by Pacific (79), Russellville (90), Union (147), Fatima (171), St. Clair (178), Vienna (191), Cuba (199) and Sullivan (225).

Varsity Boys

Running for St. Clair in the varsity boys race were Austin Gotway (fifth in 17:21), Dylan Pattillo (ninth in 17:50), Shane Schmidt (20th in 18:30), Coty Declue (43rd in 19:35), Dylan Corbett (73rd in 20:43), Kyle Avery (81st in 21:14) and Dustin Harland (82nd in 21:18).

“Austin ran a great race. We talked about him trying to stay with the Linn guy through the first mile as a practice to what he’ll see at state and he executed well. He was able to hold his momentum through the whole race,” said St. Clair Coach Ben Martin. “Dylan continues to run faster every week. We’re really happy with the times he’s posting this season.”

New Haven’s runners were Seth Schenck (11th in 17:55), Dominick Pataky (16th in 18:14), Zach Grater (25th in 18:50), William Smith (39th in 19:22), Zach Schwab (62nd in 20:11) and Paul Moreno (90th in 22:35).

Competing for Owensville were Barry Gerber (14th in 18:12), Blaine McKinney (28th in 19:00), Caleb Mundwiller (38th in 19:21), Cody Dolles (60th in 20:10) and Matt Wills (61st in 20:10).

Pacific’s runners were Alex Cassity (14th in 18:11), Dan Dieckmann (50th in 19:43), Jeff Miller (57th in 20:02), Jeremy Hill (68th in 20:28), Ryan Duewell (72nd in 20:41), Sean Pickett (76th in 20:48) and Justin Meeker (83rd in 21:22).

Running for St. James were Austin Kochis (45th in 19:36), Addison Conway (49th in 19:42), Colin Hayes (51st in 19:44), Alex Auxier (80th in 21:13) and Kyle Reiken (84th in 21:38).

Representing Union were Dakota Dintelman (36th in 19:18) and Tim Parsons (93rd in 24:20).

Sullivan’s Uriah Heady finished seventh in 17:39. Hermann’s Evan Bean was 40th in 19:24.

Linn’s Kaleb Wilson won the race in 16:43.

Varsity Girls

Running for Owensville in the varsity girls race were Hannah Baehr (third in 21:09), Emily Koepke (sixth in 21:40), Megan Dunlap (18th in 22:50), Emmy Dunlap (28th in 23:32), Sue Meyer (30th in 23:36), Haylee Reid (35th in 23:55), Anna Koepke (40th in 24:23), Alexandria Doll (72nd in 27:00), Olivia Piontek (74th in 27:05) and Jessica Fudge (77th in 27:35).

Pacific’s runners were Ashley Brinker (fifth in 21:33), Kashmir Curtner (12th in 21:52), Hannah Graf (22nd in 23:17), Catherine Hayden (23rd in 23:17), Morgan Webb (27th in 23:29), Hannah Sanders (38th in 24:16), Carly Lindwall (41st in 24:23), Karissa Archambault (59th in 25:41) and Katee Moore (75th in 27:06).

Competing for Union were Hannah Candrl (16th in 22:40), Christa Lenau (25th in 23:22), Taylor LaValle (32nd in 23:38), Katelyn Riechers (44th in 24:36), Karlee Krey (47th in 24:47) and Alonnah Diez (57th in 25:34).

St. Clair’s runners were Sam Selby (21st in 23:12), Kelly Barns (29th in 23:35), Nicole Sauders (42nd in 24:30), Kim Pelton (52nd in 25:24), Nicole Ritrovato (58th in 25:37), Brenda Deaton (67th in 26:12), Lyndsay Hardin (80th in 27:59), Hannah Kierns (85th in 29:19), Hannah Tomasvic (91st in 31:54), Madison Bohannan (92nd in 31:55), Sky Souders (95th in 32:23) and Hannah Hampton (96th in 33:40).

“The girls were coming off our hardest practice of the year on Friday, so their legs were very tight,” said Martin. “Still, we had quite a few girls run faster than last year, so we look forward to seeing what happens at conference.”

Running for Sullivan were Chantel Dean (20th in 23:01), Lexie Brown (37th in 24:13), Natasha Snavely (63rd in 25:54), Natalie Schriever (73rd in 27:03), Christina Kofoed (81st in 28:00), Laura Ware (83rd in 28:50), Callee Tyree (84th in 28:57) and Taylor Smith (93rd in 31:56).

For St. James, Emily Perona finished 11th in 21:50, Hannah Perona was 43rd in 24:36 and Savannah Frayer ended 54th in 25:27.

Blair Oaks’ Emily Cumpton won the race in 20:28.

JV/Middle School

St. Clair won the junior varsity boys team title.

Phillip Whitaker of the Bulldogs won the race in 19:19.

Union’s Joseph Lenau finished ninth in 20:25.

In the middle schools boys race, the top three finishers were Hermann’s Grant Uthlaut in 18:57, Pacific’s Brandon Rowbottom in 9:21 and St. Clair’s Wyatt Gotway in 9:33.

Owensville’s Shaylyn Uzzle won the middle school girls race in 10:16.

Pacific’s Paige Meshach placed fourth in 10:50. Union’s Morgan Reiker was ninth in 11:00.
