St. Clair Defeats Herculaneum

Rob Hauck called it a great team victory.
Hauck’s St. Clair High School baseball team knocked off Herculaneum, 8-1, on Tuesday night.
“The boys did what needed to be done and executed in situations when we needed to,” Hauck said. “We had several hits with two strikes or sacrifices where we just put the ball in play to get a run in. This was a great team win for us. As a team, we needed this win before districts and hopefully we can build on this.”
St. Clair took the lead right away with three runs in the first. The Bulldogs added five late insurance runs to secure the victory.
The run support was more than enough for Kody Halmich. Halmich went all seven innings on the hill, allowing no earned runs and striking out nine to earn the win for the Bulldogs.
“Kody Halmich had great stuff and I am so happy that he was able to get his first varsity win,” Hauck said. “Halmich has kept us in so many games, and honestly gives us a chance every day. It was nice to see us get him the win.”
Jake Oermann went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for St. Clair. Oermann also hit his first career home run.
“Jake Oermann contributed on the offensive side with a big two-run home run and another hit and run scored,” Hauck said.
Devon Thompson went 2-3 with one RBI, while Ben Feddersen, Kevin Cox, Wyatt Mehler and Halmich all drove in one run apiece. Austin Maraman scored twice.
