April 9, 2014St Clair Athletics
A tiebreaker was needed to decide St. Clair’s dual golf meet Wednesday at St. James.
The Bulldogs and the Tigers both accumulated a team score of 193, which counted the team’s top four performances.
As a result, the meet was decided by both team’s fifth-place golfer.
St. Clair won the tiebreaker with its fifth-place golfer, Jacob Conley, carding a nine-hole round of 55.
St. James’ fifth-place golfer, Derek Hale, had a 59.
“We’re starting to see better shots. The more we play in competition, the better off we’re going to be,” said St. Clair Coach Casey Korn. “Our goal is to continue to make solid contact and hit the ball how and where we want. If we do that, we know our scores will continue to improve.”
Colin Hayes of St. James had the top score of the meet with a seven-over-par round of 43 to claim medalist honors.
Colbie Viessman was one stroke behind Hayes, carding an eight-over-par score of 44 to lead St. Clair.
Also playing for the Bulldogs were Kirk Short with 48, Ryan Cheatham with 49 and Skyler Hutchison with 52.
Other St. James players were Conner Bauman with 45, Ryan Courtois with 52 and Trae Tucker with 53.
