Competing Saturday at the Lafayette Tournament, St. Clair’s wrestlers accumulated a 1-3 dual meet record.

The Bulldogs defeated Hazelwood Central 52-26 and lost to Lafayette 65-12, Ft. Zumwalt South 54-21 and Hillsboro, 45-30.

“It was a very competitive tournament with a really good team from Springfield, Ill., and several Class 4 schools,” said St. Clair Head Coach Bryan Watkins. “We wrestled well at times, but need to be more consistent, which has been a problem all year.”

Earning second-place finishes in the entire tournament for St. Clair were Chase Cohen and Skyler Hutchison.

Cohen had a 3-2 tournament record at 138 pounds. He won a match by pin and another by major decision.

Hutchison posted a 4-1 record at 195 pounds with his only loss coming by injury default in the finals. He was held out due to a thumb injury. He won one match by pin and another by decision.

Dustin Conner (170) also was held out with an injury after winning his first match, a pin over Ft. Zumwalt South.

Lucas Davis (113) was fifth with a 3-2 record.

Sixth-place finishers were Thomas Maple (106), Ethan Koenig (120), Zach Long (126) and Jarred Dingley (220).

Also competing were Chris Algiere (132), Austin Nappier (145), Cody Stroup (152), Noah Cohen (160), Tyler Trautman (182) and Colton Huddleston (285).
