Lady Bulldogs Fall at Waynesville
January 21, 2014St Clair Athletics
Playing against Waynesville for the second time this season, St. Clair lost a road girls basketball contest Monday night.
The Lady Bulldogs (4-7) lost the game at Waynesville, 75-53.
The two teams also met in the semifinals of the Rolla Holiday Tournament, where Waynesville was a 51-43 winner.
“It was a tough night,” St. Clair Head Coach Jena Carroll said of Monday’s contest. “We shot only 32 percent from the field and they shot 67 percent. They shot the ball really well and we allowed a lot of high-percentage shots.”
Turnovers also hurt St. Clair in the game.
“We did not handle the ball real well and gave up several layups off of our turnovers,” Carroll said. “Our defense definitely was not where it needed to be against a talented and quick Waynesville team. We left a lot of little things undone and it cost us.”
Katelyn Guehne led St. Clair in the scoring column with 18 points.
“Guehne played really aggressive offensively all night,” Carroll said.
Kelsey Wachter connected for three three-pointers in the fourth quarter to finish with nine points.
Allison Hinson and Alicia York both netted six points.
Sam Deason and Emily Presley both scored four points.
Miranda Murphy, Karissa Hoffman and Halley Cokley each had two points.
