Lady Bulldogs Cruise Past Salem

It was a much-needed victory for St. Clair in the final week of the girls basketball regular season.

The Lady Bulldogs (11-13) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 63-40 victory Monday at Salem.

“We needed a game like this after coming off some tough conference games,” said St. Clair Head Coach Jena Carroll. “We played well as a team.”

St. Clair held leads of 17-8 after one quarter, 34-20 at halftime and 45-29 after three quarters.

Karissa Hoffman led three Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 20 points.

Sam Deason finished the game with 13 points. Allison Hinson added 12 points.

Katelyn Guehne netted eight points. Kayla Klenke and Anna Reed both scored four points. Hannah Molkenbur had two points.

“We did a good job of looking at different ways to score. That’s been something we’ve struggled with this season. We did a nice job switching up the attack,” said Carroll. “We had several points in transition off steals and shot over 40 percent from the field.”

St. Clair ends the regular season Wednesday at home against Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs are seeded sixth for next week’s Class 4 District 9 Tournament at Pacific. They open against third-seeded Borgia Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
