St. Clair fell behind early in the game and couldn’t recover in a girls basketball loss against North County. The Lady Bulldogs (7-7) lost their home game against North County, 63-47. “North County is a solid team. Our girls played really hard,” said St. Clair Head Coach Jena Carroll. “Things did not connect for us offensively until the fourth quarter.” North County (7-3) held leads of 18-13 after one quarter, 31-20 at halftime and 46-29 after three quarters. “They had three three-pointers in the first quarter that got us down pretty early,” Carroll said. “In the third quarter, we missed three layups in a row and missed the front end of a one-and-one. They continued to hit some big shots to maintain and extend their lead.” Allison Hinson led three Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 13 points. Sam Deason finished the game with 12 points. Karissa Hoffman added 11 points. Anna Reed netted six points. Kayla Klenke scored three points. Alicia York had two points. “We had our chances to turn the table and get the game to about four points,” Carroll said. “It just didn’t go our way.” Hermann Tournament St. Clair is seeded fourth for next week’s Hermann Tournament. Hermann is the top seed followed by New Haven, Chamois, St. Clair, Owensville, Warrenton, Wright City and Montgomery County. The Lady Bulldogs take on fifth-seeded Owensville Monday at 7:30 p.m. The championship and consolation semifinals both are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 23. With the exception of the seventh-place game, which takes place Saturday, Jan. 26, the remainder of the tournament concludes Friday, Jan. 25.
