St. Clair returned to wrestling competition with a pair of dual meet victories Thursday at Sullivan High School. The Bulldogs notched wins over Park Hills Central 36-30 and Sullivan, 45-31. “We wrestled well. We got back to wrestling hard. That’s something we’ve been stressing all year, to always wrestle hard and never give up,” said St. Clair Head Coach Brent Yule. “Good things will happen for us if we do that every time we go on the mat.” Park Hills Central St. Clair won two of the seven contested matches against Park Hills Central. Winning contested matches for the Bulldogs were: • 170 — Dustin Conner pinned Garrett Hagerty in 1:24; and • 182 — Skyler Hutchison pinned Tyler Messer in 1:24. Kris Heembrock (106), Ethan Koenig (113), Chris Algiere (120) and Matt Gordon (195) won by forfeit. Winning contested matches for the Rebels were: • 126 — Dylan Ball won by decision over Chase Cohen, 6-4; • 132 — Matthew Moss won by decision over Austin Koenig, 3-2; • 138 — Tristan Pyatt won by decision over Austin Nappier, 3-1; • 160 — Dakota Duncan won by decision over Hayden Norton, 5-0; and • 285 — Justin McWilliams pinned Colton Huddleston in 1:46. Kyle Schwantner (145) and Russell Harrington (220) won by forfeit. Both teams were open at 152. Sullivan St. Clair won six of the nine contested matches against Sullivan. Winning contested matches for the Bulldogs were: • 106 — Heembrock won by technical fall over Jacob Dixon, 19-3; • 120 — Algiere pinned Nathaniel Cardonza in 1:09; • 170 — Conner pinned A.J. Timlin in 30 seconds; • 182 — Hutchison won by major decision over Danton Creek, 15-6; • 195 — Gordon pinned Dalton Turner in 2:38; and • 285 — Huddleston pinned Kishar Patel in 3:33. Ethan Koenig (113) and Austin Koenig (132) won by forfeit. Winning contested matches for the Eagles were: • 126 — Ryan Eastman won by major decision over Cohen, 12-3; • 138 — Austin Mertz pinned Nappier in 30 seconds; and • 160 — Billy Corson won by decision over Norton, 5-0. Travis Mogat (145), Clayton Mayer (152) and Luke Pryor (220) won by forfeit.
