St. Clair split a pair of boys soccer contests during the week.
The Bulldogs (3-2) dropped a 9-2 decision Tuesday at Fatima, but rebounded with an 8-0 victory Thursday at home over Winfield.
St. Clair set the tempo with five first-half goals in an 8-0 home win Thursday over Winfield.
“We came out from the get-go and played well. Our field awareness was a lot better on both sides of the ball,” said St. Clair Head Coach Ted Koenigsfeld. “Our pace was good and our marks were excellent. We communicated very well. We did a lot of things right.”
Reno Jones registered the shutout in goal.
Spencer Crumbaugh and Jacob Meisel both scored three goals for the hat trick. Both players also had one assist.
“Meisel had his best game of the season so far,” Koenigsfeld said. “He was very aware on the field, moved around well and did a good job communicating.”
Braydon Roberts and Zach Zollinger both scored one goal.
Miguel Aguirre, Chris Kahlenbeck and Tanner Wideman each had one assist.
St. Clair lost Tuesday at Fatima, 9-2.
Fatima held a 4-1 lead at halftime and outscored the Bulldogs in the second half, 5-1.
“From the very beginning, we didn’t have that drive for the ball. We just played a poor game,” Koenigsfeld said. “Fatima is a well-disciplined, athletic and fundamentally sound team.”
Crumbaugh scored on assist from Aguirre.
Meisel scored on a free kick from approximately 20 yards out.
