Bulldogs Fall to Tigers, Seeded Fifth for District
February 17, 2012St Clair Athletics
St. Clair picked up its offensive production against a St. James team that likes to run and gun, but the Bulldogs still dropped a boys basketball contest last Friday.
The Bulldogs (7-17, 1-4) kept it close throughout the contest in a 63-56 loss to the Tigers at St. Clair High School.
“We had an awesome crowd and a good game. Both teams played hard,” said St. Clair Head Coach Greg Dunigan. “We got down at different times of the game and did a good job coming back.”
St. Clair had its chances for the win late in the game.
“We were down by one point in the last minute and had a chance to go ahead,” Dunigan said. “We missed an opportunity and had to foul. They made free throws down the stretch. We missed an open three-pointer for the tie. Free throws were the difference in the seven-point loss.”
Neyko Dominguez led two Bulldogs in double figures with 19 points in the contest. Adam Brott added 14 points.
Will Rolley finished the game with eight points. Ben Feddersen registered six points.
Evan Murphy and Evan Powell both scored four points. Justin Nunn had one point. Austin Gotway also played.
St. James (15-7, 3-2) was led by Jake Ford, Jack Mueller and Justin Lineback.
Ben Smith’s Tigers held leads of 17-11 after one quarter, 38-30 at halftime and 51-45 after three quarters.
St. Clair is seeded fifth for next week’s Class 4 District 9 Tournament at Union High School.
Borgia is seeded first followed by Sullivan, Salem, Union, St. Clair and Owensville.

The championship game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
