Varsity Takes Duchesne Tournament for 2nd Year in a Row

Jennings - (2-8) - 25

St. Charles - (10-0) - 61

The Varsity led start to finish in blowing out the Jennings Warriors in the opening round of the Duchesne Tournament.  Four players scored in double digits to led by Freshman Gabby Walker led the way with 18 points and Seniors Katie Bradley, Olivia Hollander, and Junior Ellen Weaver each contributing 10 points.  Willis had 5 steals for the Pirates and Hollander was the top rebounder with 6 and also had 4 blocks.

Hazelwood East - (9-2) - 36

St. Charles - (11-0) - 49

In a battle of the #9's with East in the large school poll and St. Charles in the small school poll the Pirates rolled to victory.  The girls took a 26-15 halftime advantage and never looked back.  The Pirates were led in scoring by Lauren Willis with 13 and Olivia Hollander and Gabby Walker each had 12.  East played a tight zone against the bigs of St. Charles and that's when Ellen Weaver and Willis took over connecting on 4 3's in the first half.

Willis led the team with 5 steals for the second game in a row and Walker had 16 rebounds to lead the way as well as 4 assists.  Below is a link to photos on Stltoday.com.

Hazelwood West - (4-5) - 40

St. Charles - (12-0) - 49

For the second year in a row the Pirates came out victorious in the 36th annual Duchesne Holiday Touranment.  The Pirates had significant contributions from each and every member of the Varsity team.  The guard play of Lauren Willis, Ellen Weaver, Karly Leach, and Kara Benden proved pivotal in the victory.  

Senior Lauren Willis and Freshman Gabby Walker were named to the All-Tournament team.  Willis led all scorers with 13 points and Walker added 12 in the championship win.  Junior Ellen Weaver scored 11 points while having another incredible first half.  Olivia Hollander led the way with 8 rebounds and Katie Bradley added 6.  Willis not only led the team in scoring but also added 5 assists.  Next up is the Warrenton Warriors on January 4th.  Below is the link for the game article and photos from Stltoday.com.
