Home » Baseball NewsColumbia Post 19 2012 Tennessee State ChampionsAugust 8, 2012 Sports StreamsColumbia Post 19 repeats as the American Legion Tennessee State Champion and advances to the 2012 MidSouth Regional in New Orleans, Louisiana. Columbia lost the first game against Shelbyville Post 23, but in the Championship game survived in 10 innings winning 3-2. Austin Bryant, tournament MVP led off the 10th with a single and scored the winning run on an errant throw from the Shelbyville second baseman. Starting pitcher Heath Slatton kept Shelbyville in check through 8 innings and Brandon Compton provided shut out relief in the 9th and 10th innings. Columbia begins play Thursday August 9 at 1pm from Kirsch Rooney Stadium in New Orleans against the Kansas State Champion Hays Kansas Post 173.
