Twynia Atkins- Head Volleyball/Assistant Softball

Twynia Gardner Atkins is a graduate of Splendora High School class of 1972.  She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Kinesiology and teaches physical education. Prior to the tenure here, she has taught in Leggett and Cleveland school districts.  She has been employed by Splendora for the past 18 years and is coaching varsity volleyball and is a softball assistant.  Twynia has had the extreme pleasure to coach a wide range of talented female athletes during her tenure and has had teams advance into post district play several years; including two state softball appearances in 2001 and 2002 (State Championship) as an assistant coach.

She is married to Fred Atkins.  They have two sons, Aaron and Bryan; two beautiful granddaughters, Brooklyn and Emily.

It has been her dream and goal to return to Splendora to teach since her freshman year in high school.  She was influenced by Margaret Butler who taught her to express herself through writing and Ben Findeisen who opened her mind to the wonders of scientific exploration.

Her goal is to instill the sense of pride and loyalty she has for the Splendora Wildcats to every student she has the honor of teaching.
