SPLENDORA, Tx -  The Splendora Wildcats had a first inning to remember on Friday afternoon, scoring 6 runs before an out was recorded, in a 14-0 shellacking of the Coldspring Trojans.

     Connor Phillips led the 1st off with a base-on-balls.  Aaron Smalley then tripled to right field, drawing chalk, as the ball scooted to the corner.  Dave Rauch then singled.  Ty Nixon singled. Matt Jacquinot doubled.  In stepped Kolby Reed, who smoked a 2-0 fastball over the left field fence for a 3-run Home Run and a 6-0 'Cats lead.  Splendora would add another run later in the inning to ease out of the first with a 7-0 advantage.  The 'Cats would hit for the 'cycle" in the inning.

     The Wildcats continued scoring, plating 4 more runs in the second inning and tacked on 3 more in the third. Casey Barron & Diego Prieto doubled for Splendora.

     Pitcher Jacquinot (6-0), tossed a near perfect game, striking out 6, yielding a bang-bang infield single and issuing no walks.  Wildcat Matt Adams recorded a rare 3-out inning while playing third base, snaring 2 line drives and fielding and throwing out a runner on a ground ball.

     The Wildcats improve to 6-0 in District 22-3A and 14-3 on the season.  The Shepherd Pirates come to town on Friday, April 4 to play the Wildcats at 7:00 pm.  A good crowd is expected as several Major League Scouts will be in attendence to watch hard thowing Tyler Kolek from Shepherd.

     In other District 22-3A action:  Shepherd 11 Tarkington 1 & Huffman beat Liberty, 4-0.
