Wildcats take on Livingston

The Livingston Lions visited Wildcat Stadium Friday night for JV and Varsity matches. The JV boys got things going in the early game as they built a 4-0 halftime on 2 goals by Johnathan Rodriguez and a goal each by Jaret Acevado and Yeudiel Santos. The Cats dominated in the mid-field on solid play by Silverio Mendoza, Emmith Gonzalez, Jaret Acevado and Nelson Giron. The second half would be no different than the first as the boys netted four more goals. Yeudiel Santos would find the goal again, followed by Silverio Mendoza, Aldiar Guerrero and Daniel Moreno. The defense was solid all evening. Leading the way were Brandon Duke, Gabriel Sanches, Jermiah Johnson and Andres Garcia. Cats win 8-0. The JV boys finished the campagin at 6-2-0.
Then it was the Varsity boys turn to light it up! The playoff bound Lions were determined to avenge a 1-0 OT loss at home against the Wildcats. The Wildcats won the coin flip and elected to have a stiff wind blow in their faces for the first half. The Lions pressed early aided by the wind. Wildcat Goal-Keeper Saul Soria kept the Lions scoreless for the 1st half aided by a tough Wildcat defense. Abe Lopez played a smart game in the back defense as did, Right Back Gabriel Luna, Stopper Cristan Acosta and Left Back Premo Santos. The Cats built a 2-0 1st half advantage. Julio Hernandez got things going with a score off a beautiful assist by Ramiro Ortuno. Later in the half Chris Melendez would increase the Wildcat lead to 2-0 off an assist by Premo Santos.
With the wind at the back of the Wildcats the 2nd half would find the Cats in full blown attack mode. Daniel Ulgade would cross to Jorge (Espana) Garcia on a beautiful head-ball score to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. Julio Hernandez would later find Luis (Peanut) Garcia open and he responded by crashing the ball into the back of the net. Wildcats 4, Lions 0. A late Penalty kick would give Livingston their only score. Final Splendora 4, Livingston 1. The Wildcat varisty district record is now at 11-0-0. The Cats will attempt to finish the district campagin undefeated with a Tuesday Spring Break match at Silsbee. Game time is 5:00 p.m. LETS GO WILDCATS!!!
