SJHS vs. Cold Spring
October 15, 2013By Kevin Grider of Splendora High School
7th B 16-0
Kenny Villyard had a 55 yard touchdown run to start us off. Blake Heinrich-Willis ran the ball in for the two point conversion. Nolan Strokos followed up with a 25 yard touchdown as well. The defense played well overall and was able to shut out Cold Spring.
8th B 14-6
It was a hard fought battle last night and it came down to the very end. We were behind when J.D. Anderson threw a pass to Greg Ramirez who took the ball to the goal line. Ramirez followed it up by punching it in the end zone to tie the game. The defense was unable to hold them off in the last minute.
7th A 16-14
It was a close game all the way to the very end. The offense moved the ball well and Jessie Paris was able to run for a touchdown. Paris also threw a touchdown pass to Jacob Bullock who was able to break a tackle and score from 40 yards out. Dylan McMullen was all over the place on defense. He created havoc all night for Cold Spring. The defense caused multiple fumbles and was able to get the ball back for our offense. We came up short but the team played with a lot of heart.
8th A 32-0
It was not one of our better games. We were injury plagued all night. Johnathon McCaleb was the ultimate team player because he was asked to play a position that he has never played before do to the injuries. We will definitely come to practice ready to work next week.
