LadyCats Take Opener at Tournament
January 17, 2013
By Jeff McGuire of Splendora High SchoolThe LadyCats took the pitch against district foe Liberty and came away with an impressive 5-1 victory. All week long, coaches McGuire and Nixon have stressed getting off to a quick start and netting that first goal. Fortunately, the players took the cue and capitalized early and often. Tanya Alvarado opened the scoring in the 10th minute followed by two quick goals from Clarisa Ochoa. Sandra Castillo and Amy Campbell also got into the scoring column.
Morre than just the goal scoring, the LadyCats were impressive in their ball control on the field. "We dominated all aspects of the game. I belive it is the most complete match we have played this season," said coach McGuire. "We will need to play this well again in order to beat Porter, our next opponent in the tournament."
The LadyCats play against the host school Porter Titans at 1:10pm on Friday. Come on out to see your LadyCat soccer team in action!
