Splendora moves to 3 - 5
October 23, 2012
By Nate Perrone of Splendora High SchoolThe Varsity Wildcats faced the Shepherd Pirates for Homecoming this past Friday night. The capacity crowd was witness to once again, our team continuing to fight despite the increasing toll of injuries & with the score reading finally at 46 - 27. New playmakers are being found every week & Wildcats are stepping in from the sub-varsity squads to make contributions.
The Splendora O-line for another week produced a strong rushing attack. Although there was a not a single 100 yard rusher, combined the running backs were over 200 yards. No matter who is carrying the rock the mighty blockers of the trenches are moving bodies & creating lanes. The aerial attack also added a touchdown to the score board. Key contributors were Anthony Reed, Tyler Whitmire, Mark Watts & Dylan Jacobs as a new weapon to the Wildcat offensive scheme.
On special teams & defense there was Brice Day with a touchdown return & interception. Also in the mix was Kenny Howard and Dylan Jacobs playing both sides of the ball. The defense stacked up strong & limited the Pirates in the running game.
This Friday the 25th at 730pm the Varisty Wildcats will face off in the annual Battle of the Bell. Come join them on the road.
