Splendora moves to 3-1
September 23, 2012
By Brad Milam of Splendora High SchoolThe varsity football program moves to 3-1 with a close win over Stafford 23-21. The game was evenly matched for most of the night. Big plays by the offense led by Gabe Carvajal, Bryce Day, Mark Watts and Ty Nixon proved to be the ultimate difference in the game. All of this success was made possible by great protection from the offensive line led by Marco Ramirez and Kevin Kimmons. Kimmons came through in a huge way in the second half by changing positions in order to shore up the offensive blocking schemes. Jay Bradford had his 4th 100+ yard rushing night with tough runs to convert many first downs.
The defense played well against a very physical and talented Stafford offense. Led by big plays from Shawn Brawner, Gabe Carvajal and Dylon Jacobs the offense was shut down for most of the night.
The Wildcats open district play vs Liberty Friday night at 7:30 in Liberty. We look forward to seeing you there.
