Stevens Point– The Wisconsin Valley Conference released its all conference boys basketball teams this week. Perhaps most notable was the fact that SPASH freshman Trevor Anderson not only made the first team, but he was also named Wisconsin Valley Conference player of the year. According to the WVC, Anderson is the first freshman to make the first team all conference since 1936.
Anderson’s play was nothing short of dominant this year. He averaged 19.8 points per game in conference play, second only to Merrill’s David Jesperson (20.5). Anderson played a key role in helping SPASH win the Wisconsin Valley Conference title this year. SPASH finished with a 11-1 conference record.
SPASH’s Scott Anderson was named coach of the year.
SPASH landed two players on the second team all conference: freshman Sam Hauser and junior George Diekelman. Rapids’ Alex Bassuener, a sophomore, also made the second team.
Rapids’ Riley Presley earned honorable mention honors.
