Reedsburg - The SPASH gymnastics team traveled to Reedsburg on Saturday for the Reedsburg Invite. The Panthers have dominated early in the season this year, and faced some tough competition as they looked to maintain their early season dominance.
Fresman Lacie Ligman led the Panthers to a third place finish, winning the balance beam with a score of 8.9. “I was happy because it felt like a good routine, but I know there’s a lot still to improve,” beamed Ligman.
“Lacie did very well today. We’re all proud of her,” shared coach Jennifer Bellmer-Callope.
Heidi Zorn scored a second on the floor with a 9.05, and Paige Kurszeswki was 5th on the uneven bars with an 8.0 The Panthers did not have a competitor in the all-around competition.
Bellmer summed up the day for the Panthers. “In general we were a bit off today, but we still had some fun surprises. It’s exciting to see the girls reach a few of their goals even when the day wasn’t our best. Moving forward, I know I can get more out of them, so I think that’s a good place to be for right now.”
Holmen won the invite with 137 points, Menominee Falls/Germantown finished second with 133.375, and SPASH was third with 131.4.
SPASH travels to Ashland on Thursday for a Great Northern Conference triangular with Ashland and Marshfield.
