#BlackLivesMatter

Police brutality is the deliberate use of excessive force, usually physical, but also common in forms of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation, by a police officer.  In recent months, a #BlackLivesMatter movement has given rise to several protests and has raised awareness of the poor treatment of black men by the police in the United States.  These protests ensued following the deaths of Michael Brown, and Eric Garner; both whom were unarmed black males that were killed by the police.  Despite these protests, both racial profiling and excessive force by the police remain common practices in law enforcement, and have been the cause of several deaths of young African Americans in this country.
