South Shelby Music at District Contest

On Saturday, March 31, members of the South Shelby Band and Choir went to the District Small Ensemble contest. Those who competed were Josh Bender, Natalie Hawkins, CC O’Heran, Shayd Laye, and Rachel Jeffries. Josh Bender received a one rating on his vocal solos, Rachel received a one on her saxophone solos, and Shayd Laye received a one on his bass clarinet solo. Natalie Hawkins received a one on her vocal solo, and CC O’Heran received a two on her vocal solo. Josh, Rachel, Shayd, and Natalie will proceed to the State Small Ensemble contest. When asked what her favorite thing about District contest was, Rachel Jeffries said, “My favorite thing was showing off my music, and getting to hear other people’s music, and hearing their unique styles.”
