After taking the championship at the Duncanville tournament to start the season, the Lady Dragons lost their first game of the season to Plano in five games last Tuesday, but avenged the loss in tournament play at the Texas Open at Allen on Friday.
Carroll then lost to Lovejoy later in the tournament. They would come back to beat Bishop Lynch to take the consolation finals and the third-place trophy.
Carroll finished the tournament going 7-1, but the loss to Lovejoy was the third loss out of five match-ups over the last two years.
Head coach Arthur Stanfield finds the series losses to Lovejoy a bit perplexing.
"Over the last two years, we've gone 63-5," Stanfield said. "And three of those five losses are to Lovejoy."
Odd enough on its own, Stanfield noted that Carroll over that stretch has beaten Coppell four straight, but Coppell has gone 3-0 over Lovejoy.
Taylor Gruenewald was named to the All-Tournament team to represent the Lady Dragons at the Allen tournament.
This weekend, Carroll will play in the Arlington Invitational, hosting Allen on Tuesday, then playing four games on Friday at Arlington Lamar and a hopeful four additional games on Saturday.
Carroll will start district play Sept. 7.
