Home » Basketball NewsVYPE Boys' Top 20 -- No. 6 Clear Springs ChargersNovember 9, 2012 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - South HoustonNo. 6 Clear Springs Chargers COACH: Chris Johnson DISTRICT: 24-5A 2011-12 POSTSEASON: Lost in the First Round to Bush
Clear Springs had a rough playoff experience a year ago, drawing the Fort Bend Bush Broncos in round one. While the Chargers were one and done in the playoffs, Clear Springs has a solid trio of returners in place to win District 24-5A and make a run in the playoffs.
Leading scorer Jeff Beverly is back after averaging over 17 points per game last year. The 6-foot-5 forward has worked on his ball-handling and shooting in the offseason to carry even more of the load as a senior. The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi signee will be accompanied by 6-foot-7 Parker Callender, who can post up and pop out for jumpers. Callender hit for 10 points a game last season and will be counted on to provide more scoring if the Chargers have regional expectations. Junior Mike Flynn (6-foot-5) and Corey Smith have a year of experience and more polish from the summer circuit.
