Home » Football NewsVYPE's Class 4A Big Men on Campus Part IAugust 7, 2012 VYPE MAGAZINE - South HoustonVype Vitals: Big Man on Campus Ahmard Vital In the July 2012 issue of the Houston VYPE Magazine, a Top 10 Class 4A teams were listed. This is a rundown of the Top 5. On each of the teams, there is one guy who is listed as the Big Man on Campus…
1. Dawson – Lots of the players which built the foundation have departed the Dawson program, but coach Eric Wells has stated that the tradition and the winning mindset is what is in place at the program now. For this year, running back James White is the big man and will be the key to the Eagles’ success. The Texas A&M commit should be on point for another big year and propel Dawson to victory.
2. Terry – Sure Derrick Griffin grabs most of the headlines as a Top 100 prospect in two sports, but the big man not for 2012 goes to quarterback Antoine Arbuleda, a player has the experience in leading the team and is the returning district MVP.
3. Angleton – Perhaps this will be the year for wide receiver Jayln Judkins to breakthrough and reach his potential. If that is to happen, know that quarterback T.J. Austin will play a role in that. And the Angleton big man Austin will be a huge key in the Wildcats’ success.
4. Summer Creek – There are so many great young players for the Summer Creek team, but only one big man on campus at a time. And for this upcoming season, why not give the nod to the most important position on the field. That seems to be the best call in naming quarterback Aaron Sharp as the man for the North Houston campus.
5. Brenham – Coach Glen West has been with the Cubs program for well over a decade. The class that recently left was loaded with talent, but in no way is the cupboard depleted. For this upcoming season, defensive back Darrion Johnson is the man on campus. He is already high in the recruiting boards for a number of nationally-ranked Division I programs.
