Home » Football NewsVYPE Recruit Scoop: Offers Getting Hot in HoustonJuly 19, 2012 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - South HoustonThe south side of Houston is home to high school powers new and old. North Shore high school has been producing Division I talent over the past two decades while Manvel high school is just hitting the map.
Let's start with North Shore. Athlete Micah Thomas has picked up a few offers from the likes of Utah, Colorado and Rice, while Mustang linebacker Zach Whitley hit the motherload as a junior. Whitley was offered by Coach Mack Brown of Texas at a recent Longhorn camp. His Longhorn offer compliments the Texas A&M offer he received in the spring. He attended the Alabama camp as well and is one of their top 2014 prospects.
As for Thomas who will play quarterback this season, he will be making a decision before the start of the season as other schools begin making their pitch. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are also on his radar.
"I'm totally healthy and can't wait for the start of the season in a month," he said. "As for recruiting, I'm really open to playing on the offensive or defensive side of the ball."
In Manvel, senior lineback Johnthan London got his first offer from San Jose State after transferring from Chavez high school. Maverick's Austin Bennett, Kyrion Parker and Tavares Garner have already committed to Oklahoma and Texas A&M respectively.
