Manvel's Johnson Talks About Arkansas Situation

By Matt Malatesta

Manvel's Taiwan Johnson was one of the most coveted defensive ends in the state of Texas for 2012 and was close to the vest about his recruitment. All the way up to the time he committed to Arkansas that is.

Johnson, who led his team to the state final game with his explosive play on defense, has been watching the Bobby Petrino situation play out just like the rest of the college football nation.

"My thoughts on Coach Petrino being let go is a state of shock and disappointment," he said. "I was excited about playing for a coach like Bobby Petrino but things didn't work out that way. As of now I'm just waiting to see if a new coach coach is in place and what the staff stays. I just wish the best for coach and his family and I can't wait to be at the Spring Game next weekend."

Cinco Ranch's Jamel James, who committed to Arkansas as a sophomore, recently decommitted from the Hogs and is nearing a decision on USC or Florida State.
