By Dave Hancock of South Eugene High School

Senior South Eugene golfer, Sulman Raza, will announce his college choice at a Letter of Intent signing in the SEHS main gym foyer on Wednesday, Novemeber 9, at 9am.  Sulman has been an outstanding varsity scholar student and member of the South Eugene boys varsity golf team since his freshmen year when he helped lead south Eugene to the 2009 6A State Championship, defeating Jesuit by 14 strokes.  Sulman was the highest placed SEHS finisher that year, shooting 6 over par for an equal 5th position.  During his sophomore year, Sulman again was a vital member of the South Eugene team, helping them to a second consecutive Southwest Conference Title and a 3rd place finish in the 6A State Tournament.  Last year, as a Junior, Sulman once again led SEHS to their third consecutive Southwest Conference Championship and a 4th place finish at the 6A State Tournament.

Sulman first started playing golf at the age of three and started taking weekly lessons at the age of six.  He has played golf in thirteen different countries around the world.  He currently has a +2.7 handicap and a Junior Golf National Scoreboard ranking of 150.  Sulman's home course is Emerald Valley Golf course and his parents are Anita Weiss and Farrukh Raza.
