Orchestra Teacher Loses Ponytail over Bet
April 4, 2014South Houston High School
South Houston High School's orchestra teacher, Mr. Crandall, cuts off his signature ponytail over a bet with his students at the recent UIL competition. They had orignally asked if he would be willing to loose his long locks if they made "Sweepstake".
Both the varsity and subvarsity orchestra groups were able to make sweepstakes, meaning they obtained a perfect score. Crandall stayed true to his promise and actually chopped off at least eight inches of his hair. For the last three years, Crandall's ponytail had been his signature look, but he didn't mind removing it for a good cause.
"My head does feel ten pounds lighter." said Crandall. "My wife said as long as I don't loose all of my hair, she's okay with the change."
The bet proved to be a great motivator for the students to perform well at UIL and Mr. Crandall got a cool makeover as well.
