Can YouTube Make You a Millionaire?
January 16, 2014By Christian Jones of South Houston High School
Everyone watches YouTube videos, whether they're looking at the latest viral video or a makeup tutorial. Did you know that some of your favorite Youtubers make six figures? Simply because of your views.
Take Michelle Phan for example. A makeup guru, who is famous not only for her makeup skills, but for her voiceovers which were uncommon around the time she posted her first video in 2007. However, it wasn't until she did a tutorial on Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" look that she reached over a million subscribers. Michelle Phan is now a millionaire. She is a spokeswoman for the high-end makeup brand Lancome, a jewlery designer, and owns her own makeup line, EM.
Here's how it works: After reaching a certain amount of views and subscribers, you can become a YouTube partner, where you can get paid for your work. Simply by allowing companies to advertise on your videos, and of course, providing something entertaining for your viewers to watch.
Youtubers who have become successful on YouTube have quit their previous, mundane jobs, and our now making the salary of some doctors/lawyers. Go ahead and try your luck! Who knows? You just might make it big.
