Could CTHS Be Right for You?

The Pasadena family is expanding! The new Career & Technical High School will open for the 2014 school year, but only to those freshmen and sophomores who apply and get accepted.
Some of you might be wondering: What is the Career and Technical High School and what can it offer me?
According to the brochure, the school is an "application-based school of choice open to Pasadena ISD students in grades 9-12. With six career academies and twenty-five different programs, students will choose a program that aligns with their interests and future career goals."
The school, in a way, is almost set up like a college. You choose a "major" and then your coursework is designated around the one you choose. It offers you the chance to earn college credit, join internships, and "interact with business, industrial, and community partners and leaders" within your chosen career field.
The massive school (32 acres) also comes with some special features. A fully equipped Fitness Center, outdoor jogging trail with fitness stations, indoor & outdoor teaching theatres, student-operated bistro, cosmetology salon, court room, wireless learning environment, and a robotics testing/competition field are just some of its perks. Also, the students will still have the opportunities that other high schools have. Football games, dances, and a variety of clubs will still be offered to the student body.
Don't think that it will be all fun and games though. According to the principal, Mr. Steve Fleming, you still will have state standardized testing and regular high school classes.
So how about it? Does this school sound right for you?
