SHHS Crowns New Homecoming Royalty!
October 8, 2013By Christian Jones of South Houston High School
South Houston officially has new royalty. On Friday, October 4th, Alfredo Olazaba and Luzdivina Ruiz were crowned Homecoming King & Queen in front of a cheering crowd of spectators.
CJ: Did you think you would win?
LR: I believed we all equally deserved it. We all have excellent qualities, but the fact that I won was completely amazing.
AO: I was confident, but not cocky. If I didn't win, it would've been nice to, but it was just an honor to be nominated. It felt so surreal to actually win.
CJ: How did it feel to be in front of so many people?
LR: I was nervous, but I was SO proud to be there in front of the student body.
AO: It felt like I was in the spotlight. I felt so grateful and I wouldn't have been there if not for everyone else.
CJ: What would you say to the other Homecoming Candidates (Samantha Garcia, Esme Campos, Elton Dyer, James Davis)?
LR: You guys are all winners, every single one of you. Congratulations to you also for coming this far!
AO: Don't feel any less. This shouldn't determine your confidence level. You are all wonderful.
Well, that's all folks! Congratulations Luzdivina and Alfredo!
