Home » General NewsWill South Houston High School be having a homecoming dance?September 26, 2012 By Hilario Duarte of South Houston High SchoolSay WHAT!? Rumor has it that South Houston High School will not be having a homecoming dance this school year. The rumor, which had been spreading like wildfire earlier this week, had many students very disappointed. Rest assure, The Torch Online is here to the full story from the person who knows best, the principal of SHHS himself. “The homecoming dance was NOT cancelled,” Dr. Steve Fullen told Torch staffers. “Due to the 6:00 game start time on Saturday, October 13th, it became necessary to reschedule the dance. The game will run until 8:30 or 9:00, and there is no way to schedule a dance after that without violating curfew restrictions. The homecoming dance will occur on October 20th, and will maintain the homecoming theme.” “I am happy that it’s still on,” said senior, Yaressly Vigil. “At first I thought it was cancelled so I was thinking how unfair it was for us seniors to not have homecoming, but now I’m relieved.” Adrian Jimenez, also a senior said, “Yes! It’s good news to hear that my senior year class will get to continue this tradition.” Dr.Fullen also stated that at the moment there is no other plan of removing or rescheduling any other school event .
