Girls track team competes in Marion county meet despite weather

May 16, 2014
Southport High School

The girls track team competed in the Marion County meet Tuesday May 13. Teams were unable to finish the meet due to rain, however, head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel is optimistic about the rest of the season due to the team’s performance.

The weather was a conflicting force with the girls track teams, it was cold and raining which are obviously not ideal meet conditions, according to Fishel.

Fishel still believes the team ran well, and scored in good places.

“The kids competed well, we scored in all the events we competed in,” Fishel said.

With Sectionals being next week Fishel hopes to get a few athletes into the state finals, and is very optimistic about the situation.

Ben Davis is hosting the girls sectional meet next tuesday, May 20 and it is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

Be sure to come out and support the Southport athletes.
