Girls basketball team finishes season with loss to Pike

February 14, 2014
Southport High School

The girls varsity basketball game lost to Pike on Tuesday, 57-44, finishing off their season at 5-16. Pike lead at half time 27-16, but the Lady Cards stepped it up in the second half scoring 28 to Pike’s 30.

“It was a good game; we started out slow but finished good. It was the missed shots and turnovers that really made this game hard to win,” assistant coach Mrs. Rachel Ancelet said.

Leading scorer for the Lady Cards was junior Shayla Wright with 12 points making two out of her five 3-pointers. Right behind Wright was senior Molly Bridges with 11 points and having four blocked shots. The Lady Cards shot 39 percent from the field, and 57 percent from the free throw line. They also had 20 rebounds and 13 steals.

This marks the end of the Lady Card’s season.
