January 31, 2014
Southport High School

The girls basketball team lost to Roncalli Tuesday, Jan 28, 56-43.The shooting percentage was the main reason for this loss. The Lady Cards total shooting percentage was 33 percent, but the free throw percentage was 70 percent. The Lady Cards also had 31 turnovers compared to Roncalli’s 13, but the Lady Cards did out rebound them, 41 to 24.

Leading scorer of the night was junior Shayla Wright with 10 points making two out of nine of her 3- pointers. Right behind her was senior Molly Bridges with 9 points with six rebounds.

“We just need to work on our shooting percentage and cutting down on turnovers,” varsity girls basketball assistant coach Mr. L J Parker said.

Make sure to attend tonight’s game against Columbus North at 6 p.m. Tonight the Alumni Association is honoring the 1980’s girls state championship team. The game will be a boys and girls double header.

Come out and support both Cardinal basketball teams.
