Girls cross country teams hopes injuries won't slow them down at FC
August 30, 2013Southport High School
The girls cross country team finished third out of 10 teams when they ran at the Richmond invite last Saturday, (Aug. 24).
Head coach Mr. Nathan Fishel attributes the girls’ success to their hard work at practice.
“Everyone has been working hard and giving it their all,” Fishel said. “I know that if we compete like we did on Saturday that we can really challenge some of the teams that we face this season.”
Fishel said his top runner was sophomore Delaney Bucker. He hopes that she and freshman Christie Dean can rally around each other when they travel to Franklin Central tomorrow, (Aug. 31) for the Flashes Invite.
Fishel believes that his team can run right in the middle of the pack tomorrow despite its injuries.
“We can come in fifth or sixth with the runners we have,” Fishel said. “If we had all our runners, then we could come in third or fourth, but we don’t. It’s just something you have to deal with.”
The Lady Cards hope they can overcome adversity and their injuries and come out with a win tomorrow when they travel to Franklin Central. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
Come out and support your Lady Cards.
