Girls soccer team shows improvement
August 24, 2013Southport High School
Earlier this week (Aug. 20) the girls soccer team faced Mt. Vernon high school. The girls ended up losing the game 4-0.
According to head coach Dan McLaughlin, there were positives and negatives for the game. The negative is that the team didn’t play nearly as well as they could have.
On a positive note, Mount Vernon only scored half as many points as they did the year before, which is a great improvement for the girls soccer team according to the coach.
“We also had several good scoring opportunities this year and only one last year.” McLaughlin said
In practice the players need to work on getting familiar with their position, and how their position effects the game according to McLaughlin.
The girls have a game today (Aug 24) against Ben Davis, away. McLaughlin is likes their chances against them. If the girls can play hard throughout the game, they are hoping to pull out a win.
Go support the girls in their second soccer game of the year.
