Track team to open indoor season soon

The track team, while their outdoor season is a few more weeks away, will begin there indoor season in only a few days. On March 1 both teams will travel to Indiana Wesleyn for the invitational hosted there. Four days later on March 5 they will travel to North Montgomery for their invitational. Both track teams will be doing a lot of travelling this year since they will not be able to have any home meets since the football field is getting turf.
The track team hopes that their key returners from last season can help push them through the indoor season in a successful way.
Head track coach Mr. Nathan Fishel hopes that certain athletes can help the team.
“You would hope that the people who did well last year can translate that to this year,” Fishel said. “I hope that these athletes can do well and push our team forward during indoor.”
Key returners for the boys team are, seniors Gerald Toweh, Jake Hally and Montez Lomax. Also, juniors Clayton Bowie and Sanchez Miller, and sophomore Kevin Wagner hope to return and make an impact.
Key returners for the girls team are seniors Sydney Barger, Ja’Breena Gardner and Kortney McAtee. Also juniors Molly Bridges, Sherraine Miller and Bailey Brothers hope to make an impact. Finally, sophomore Brandi Ford looks to return well.
The track team hopes that these returners can ow ell like they are expected to and they can finish high at their first meet.
Their first meet will be on March 1. The team will travel and compete in the Indiana Wesleyn Invitational, the meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
