Boys swim team prepares for sectionals

The Cards boys swimming team will be at Franklin Community this Thursday (Feb. 14) for sectionals.  The sectional meet will consist of the following teams:  Center Grove, Franklin Community, Greenwood, Indian Creek, Martinsville, Mooresville, Owen Valley, Perry Meridian, Roncalli, Southport and Whiteland.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.  The second sectional, if someone continues, will be the following Saturday (Feb. 16).  That meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

“This will be an amazing sectional,” assistant coach Mr. Josef Horvath said.  “A lot of our swimmers are seeded 16^th and up.  I hope we continue improving times and advance to Saturday.  The people that will most likely advance will be our relays, backstrokers, (International Medley swimmers) and freestylers.”

Junior Alex McSwain has a good feeling about sectionals.

“I think I’ll do pretty well at sectionals,” McSwain said.  “I felt good about my last performance and at sectionals my best event will be my 500-yard freestyle.  With all the training and tapering (in water less) we’ve been doing, we should be well rested and ready for sectionals.”
