Boys swimming team faces off with Columbus North
January 30, 2013Southport High School
The boys swimming team lost last night to Columbus North. The score was as follows:
Columbus North-129 and Southport-40.
“The meet actually went well,” head coach Mr. Matthew Jeffries said. “Junior Joseph Morris dropped a full second in his 100-yard freestyle, but Columbus North is a ridiculously good team.”
Junior James Paden had a great time at last night’s meet.
“It was a fun meet,” Paden said. “We swam different events and were just playing around. I actually did really well in my event.”
“I thought it was a great meet,” volunteer assistant coach Mr. Bill Bueckers said. “Meets aren’t won by times, but by performance. This sets us up for Sectionals with the amount of personal bests we got.”
Bueckers writes a quote of the day before every meet and this was what it said:
“Pain is your body telling your mind it’s being pushed. Your mind has to tell your body to push harder.”
The next meet for the Cards is this Thursday (Jan. 31). The meet will be the girls Sectional meet and it is scheduled to begin at 5:30p.m. and will be held at Franklin Community.
“For Sectionals we have reduced yardage, increased intensity, and cut out dry land and weights,” Jeffries said. “We are slowly reducing everything down to the basics.”
Come out and support your Lady Cards in their efforts at Sectionals.
