Cards JV team finishes second in Invite

January 18, 2013
Southport High School

The boys JV basketball team hosted the JV Invitational Saturday (Jan. 12).  Brebeuf Jesuit, Lawrence North and Perry Meridian were the other teams in the tournament.  The Cards finished in 2nd place out of four teams.

The Cards won their first game against Brebeuf Jesuit in the first round.  The score was 45-40.

“I was really impressed with the way we came back from being down nine with three minutes to go to winning by five,” head JV coach Mr. Ben Danner said.  “The team played really hard and it paid off.”

Key performers for the Cards in the first game were Christian McGail and Luke Johnston both with 10 points each.  Thomas Garrett was also important because of his three-pointer at the end of the game.

After their win, the Cards played Lawrence North for the finals.  The Cards lost 46-36.

“We played some great defense,” Danner said.  “We just couldn’t make shots.”

The Cards didn’t have any key players in this game.

Come out and support your Cards in their efforts over the rest of their season.
