Cards basketbal team loses momentum in the 4th

January 10, 2013
Southport High School

Over the winter break the Cards played Franklin Central at Franklin Central. The Cards lost, 63-43.

Head coach Mr. Kyle Simpson said the team played a lot better game.

“We played three-fourths of the game, and with 35 seconds to go in the third quarter, we were up 35-31,” Simpson said.

Simpson said there are a few areas the team needs to improve on before their next game.

“We need to shoot better, cut down on our amount of turnovers and be able to finish out a game,” Simpson said.

Sophomore Malik Bennett and freshman Jansen Benge did some good things during the game, according to Simpson.

Benge thinks the team is taking a step in the right direction.

“We fought hard the first three quarters but died down in the fourth quarter,” Benge said.

In practice Simpson said the team has just been focusing on every aspect of the game.

The Cards took on Lawrence Central last night.
